About This Data

Proactive disclosure records of hospitality expenses from Canadian federal departments and agencies, 2015 to present. Departments must publicly report spending on meals, refreshments, receptions, and other hospitality.

Each record includes the authorizing official, purpose, vendor, attendee counts, total cost, and department. "$/Head" divides the total by all attendees (staff + guests).

Data quality notice: This data is presented exactly as published by the Government of Canada with no modifications. Some records contain obvious errors including implausible attendee counts (e.g. 1,000,000+ guests), misaligned columns, and missing fields. These are errors in the original source data. Users should exercise judgment when interpreting individual records.

Vendor names are recorded as-is and have not been deduplicated. Use substring search to cast a wide net.
